Shala Yoga Common Queries

Intro Offer FAQs

  • Our intro offer is $50 for 14 days of unlimited classes*. If you’re new to Shala Yoga Bunbury it’s our best value pass, allowing you to attend as many classes as you like during the 14 days.

Purchase your intro offer online or in the Shala when you attend your first class. *You must still book in line with our 2 hour cancellation policy

  • If you’re new to Shala Yoga Bunbury and/or have never purchased an intro offer from us before, you’re eligible!

  • Your intro offer activates on the date that you book your first class. So if you booked your first class on say May 10, then it will end on June 9. Please note, if you start your pass on May 10, it won’t let you book a class on May 9 or earlier under your pass. It will ask you to pay. You can rectify this by cancelling all classes booked and re-starting your intro offer on another day.

  • Unfortunately there are no pauses on our intro offer. We recommend you start your intro offer at a time when you know you’ll get the most value out of your 30 days.

New Yogis FAQs

  • If you are completely new to yoga, we recommend that you join our dedicated beginners class ‘Begin’ on Wednesday nights at 7pm.

    We also recommend:

    • Any of our ‘Slow Flow’ classes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9.30am and Saturdays at 9.30am

    • Our ‘Myoyin Yang Flow’ class on Wednesdays at 9.30am

    • Our ‘Hot Yoga’ class on Mondays at 5.30pm

    • Any of our restorative classes - ‘Myoyin’ on Mondays at 7pm, ‘Yin’ on Tuesdays and Thursday at 7pm, ‘Restore’ on Fridays at 5.30pm and ‘Yin Yang Nidra’ on Sundays at 4.30pm

When you arrive for your first class, let your teacher know that you are new to yoga and do the best that you can. Go at your own pace, look around the room to see what others are doing, listen intently and take breaks when you need to. It’s always daunting when you begin something new, but after just a few classes you’ll start to get the hang of things. We’re here to help you on your yoga journey!

You may also like to book a private yoga class for personal guidance and a deeper understanding of alignment, modifications, breath and the foundation poses. Email us if you want to find out more and book.

    • Start slow. Yoga is about personal progress, not competition.

    • Practice regularly and enjoy the journey.

    • Rest if needed. If you feel tired or overwhelmed in class, take child's pose.

    • Yoga gives you exactly what you need. Come with low expectations.

    • Modify Poses. Use props or modify poses as needed.

  • If you own your own yoga mat, we recommend you bring it along. If you need to borrow a yoga mat, we have a small number of yoga mats available for students to use, however if you continue to practice with us, we recommend you purchase your own mat for hygienic purposes. We have a selection of high quality mats for sale in reception.

You may also like to bring a water bottle and small towel. For our restorative practices you might also like to bring a blanket or your own props.

  • Try not to eat at least an hour before class, an empty stomach is better for yoga. If you do need to eat, keep it light.

  • Arrive hydrated and keep drinking to a minimum during class so your body says warm.

  • We recommend you wear comfortable stretchy clothing. For our restorative practices such as Yin you may like to wear a jumper and socks.

  • Consistency is key. We suggest you set intentions for a consistent practice of two to three times a week. But there is no right or wrong answer. Coming even once a week is better than none!

  • Our doors open 15 minutes before class, so we ask that you arrive with plenty of time to get settled into class and be ready to practice on time.

Bookings FAQs

  • To book a class and purchase a pass/membership, you need to create an account in Mindbody here. If you already have an account with us, simply login. You can access Mindbody via our website here or via the app.  If you have any difficulties booking online and can't resolve your issue via the FAQs, please email us for help.

  • Yes! We highly recommend that you book ahead to secure your place. Walk-ins are welcome, but only subject to availability.

  • Your multi-class pass/upfront membership activates on the date that you book your first class. If you start your multi-class pass/membership on May 10, it won’t let you book a class on May 9 or earlier under your pass. It will ask you to pay. You can rectify this by cancelling all classes booked and re-starting your pass/membership on another day.

  • We have a strict ‘no-late entry’ policy. Once the doors are locked, the doors are locked. Please don’t bang on the door and disturb the class. This is out of respect for the teacher and fellow yogis. Please make a conscious effort to be set up and on your mat at least a few minutes before class starts. This means allowing plenty of time for you to travel to the Shala, park and arrive without rushing.

  • In the first instance, we recommend that you delete the app, and then reinstall it. This usually fixes any glitches in the system.

  • Make sure you are logged into Mindbody using the same email address that you used to buy your pass/membership. If you are still having problems, email us and we will investigate the issue for you.

  • We don’t like cancelling classes but some of the following events may result in a class being cancelled:

    • Last minute sickness not giving us time to find a cover

    • Less than 3 students booked into class

    • Public Holidays

    • Summer Holiday break

    • Unforeseen circumstances

In the event that we have to cancel a class, we will reach out to all students via email and/or text message.

Cancellations & Waitlists FAQS

  • We are a small boutique studio limited to 18 mats, so we have a cancellation policy which allows others to attend class if you can’t, but it only works if everyone follows the rules.

We operate with a 2 hour cancellation policy. If you can’t make class please always cancel your booking in Mindbody, the same way you booked. We cannot process cancellations via the phone or email. You can cancel class up to two hours before start-time without getting penalised. This is defined as an ‘early cancel’. If you cancel within the two hours before start-time, this is defined as a ‘late cancel’. If you don't cancel you will be marked as a ‘no-show’.

Both ‘late cancels’ and 'no-shows' involve penalties. If you booked in with a Causal Pass you will lose your pass. If you booked in via our Intro Offer or one of our Memberships, you may be fined a fee of $15. Future booking restrictions may be applied following repeated bad behaviour. So please cancel your booking if you can no longer attend.

  • Each class allows a maximum of 5 students to join the waitlist. Only book onto a waitlist if you genuinely want to go to class. Don’t book in if you’re not sure or unable to check the status of your booking, especially in the lead up to that class.

You can add yourself onto a waitlist up until 2 hours before class (unless already full). You must have a valid payment to join a Waitlist. Your payment will be credited back to your Mindbody account if you’re not successful in joining the class.

If someone cancels their place in the class before the 2 hour cancellation policy and you are next in line on the Waitlist, you will move into the class. You will be notified by email or text message if you have subscribed to our Schedule Updates communications, otherwise you need to check your status manually in Mindbody.

If someone cancels their place in the class after the 2 hour cancellation policy only people on the waitlist who are subscribed to our Schedule Updates communications will receive an email or text message inviting them to claim the spot. The first person to respond automatically moves into the class.

We highly recommend that you subscribe to our communications to benefit from Waitlists.

  • Subscribing to ‘Account Management’ you'll receive important information about your account.

Subscribing to ‘Schedule Updates’ you'll get a reminder before class, if there are any schedule changes and updates to your booking if you're on the waitlist.

Subscribing to ‘Newsletters and Promotions’ you’ll receive updates on events and our latest offers!

  • You can update your subscription in Mindbody, email us or ask one of our friendly teachers.
